Wedding Flower Booking
How far in advance should we book our wedding florist?
We recommend booking your wedding florist as soon as you’ve secured your venue. Most couples book 9–18 months in advance, particularly for popular spring and summer wedding dates.
As we only accept one wedding per day, our availability can fill well ahead of time. If you have a date in mind, we recommend getting in touch early to check availability.
Do you have a minimum spend?
Yes. Our wedding collections begin from $2,000, with fully bespoke weddings starting from $10,000+.
This allows us to provide the level of quality, service, creativity and attention to detail that The Florist NZ is known for.
Do you only do weddings?
Weddings are our speciality, and that’s where we focus our creativity, time and expertise.
By specialising in weddings and accepting only one wedding per day, we’re able to give each couple our full attention and ensure we’re completely focused on their wedding, from the initial planning process through to the big day.
Do you offer wedding flower consultations?
Absolutely! We offer complimentary consultations where we can chat through your wedding plans, venue, colour palette, floral ideas, priorities and budget.
It’s a relaxed opportunity to get to know each other, answer your questions and start developing the floral vision for your wedding.
Wedding Flower Design Process
What if I don’t know what flowers I want?
That’s completely normal!
Most couples know how they want their wedding to feel rather than knowing specific flower varieties. You don’t need to arrive with every detail decided.
We’ll guide you through colours, textures, seasonal blooms and styling to create a floral design that feels personal to you and complements your venue, wedding style and overall vision.
Can you recreate flowers from Pinterest?
Pinterest is a fantastic source of inspiration, but every wedding is unique.
Rather than copying another wedding exactly, we use your inspiration to create something personalised that reflects your style, venue, colour palette and season.
You’re welcome to bring inspiration images to your consultation — they’re a great way for us to understand the look and feeling you love.
Can I request specific flowers?
Absolutely.
If your favourite flowers are in season and available through our trusted growers, we’ll source them whenever possible. If a particular flower isn’t available due to seasonality, quality or supply, we’ll recommend beautiful alternatives that achieve the same overall look and feel.
Can you help us decide what flowers we need?
Absolutely. You don’t need to have your entire wedding flower list worked out before contacting us.
We’ll talk through your ceremony, reception, bridal party, venue and styling, then help you prioritise the arrangements that will have the greatest impact.
Our aim is to create beautiful, cohesive wedding flowers while making sure your floral investment is spent thoughtfully.
Do you only use fresh flowers?
Yes. We work exclusively with premium fresh flowers and foliage to create luxurious, natural-looking arrangements.
We love working with fresh seasonal blooms because they bring beautiful colour, movement, texture and a natural sense of luxury to your wedding day.
Seasonal Wedding Flowers
Do flowers have seasons?
Yes! Just like fruit and vegetables, flowers are seasonal.
Designing with seasonal blooms allows us to work with flowers when they are naturally at their freshest and best quality. It can also provide excellent value and gives your wedding flowers a beautiful connection to the time of year you’re getting married.
We prioritise locally grown New Zealand flowers wherever possible, while also sourcing from trusted suppliers when particular blooms or varieties are required.
What flowers are available for my wedding date?
Flower availability changes throughout the year, so the flowers available for your wedding will depend on your date and what is naturally in season.
Once we know your wedding date, we can recommend beautiful seasonal blooms and create your floral design around the flowers that are likely to be at their best.
What happens if my chosen flowers aren’t available?
Mother Nature always has the final say!
Weather, growing conditions, crop availability and supply can sometimes affect the availability or quality of particular flowers.
If this happens, we’ll carefully substitute with flowers of a similar colour, style, texture and value, while maintaining the overall look and feeling of your floral design

Every wedding is different, and your floral investment will depend on the number and type of arrangements, flowers selected, size of installations and level of styling required.

Why do wedding flowers cost what they do?
Wedding flowers involve much more than the flowers themselves.
Your investment includes consultation and design, sourcing premium blooms, flower conditioning and preparation, creating each arrangement by hand, transport, professional delivery, on-site setup and installation, pack down where applicable, as well as years of professional floral expertise.
Our goal is to make sure every element is thoughtfully designed and beautifully executed for your wedding day.
Can you work within our budget?
Yes.
During our consultation, we’ll discuss your budget and priorities and recommend where your investment will have the greatest visual impact.
There are often different ways to achieve a similar overall look, and we’re happy to suggest options that help you create beautiful wedding flowers while staying within your preferred investment.
Wedding Day Delivery & Setup
Do you deliver and set everything up?
Yes.
We personally deliver your bouquets and floral arrangements and professionally install your ceremony and reception flowers, ensuring everything is beautifully presented before your guests arrive.
From bouquets and buttonholes to arches, installations and reception flowers, we take care of the floral setup so you can focus on enjoying your wedding day.
Do you return to pack everything down?
For larger installations and hired items, yes. Collection and pack-down requirements will be discussed during the planning process.
Where appropriate, we can design your ceremony florals to be to be repurposed for your reception styling, helping you get even more value from your floral investment.
What happens to our flowers after the ceremony?
Where possible, ceremony flowers can be repurposed throughout your reception.
For example, arrangements from your ceremony may be moved to your reception or used to enhance other areas of your venue.
We’ll discuss the best options for your flowers, venue and wedding-day schedule as part of your planning.
Do you travel outside Auckland?
Yes!
We’re based on Auckland’s Hibiscus Coast and happily travel throughout Auckland and beyond.
Travel fees may apply depending on your venue location, and these will be discussed as part of your quote.
Booking & Payments
How do we secure our wedding date?
Once you’re happy with your quote, your wedding date is secured when your retainer has been paid and received.
Once the retainer has been received, your booking is officially confirmed and your date is reserved exclusively for you.
Can we make changes after booking?
Absolutely.
We understand that weddings evolve as planning progresses. You may change your mind about colours, flowers, arrangements or styling as your plans come together.
Final adjustments are typically made around 6–8 weeks before your wedding, giving us enough time to confirm flower availability and finalise your designs.
What happens if we need to cancel or postpone?
We understand that sometimes plans change, and we’re here to help wherever we can.
If you need to cancel or postpone your wedding, please contact us as soon as possible so we can discuss your options. Your retainer is non-refundable, however, if you need to postpone, we may be able to transfer your booking and payments to a new date, subject to our availability.
